This piece honors Marion, founder of Muʻumuʻu Library, who won a giveaway during my Moon Mele days. She arrived dressed in a gorgeous muʻumuʻu, sitting and reading a book—a perfect embodiment of rest, story, and cultural connection.

Alongside the painting, I wrote this poem:

I read,
I read like I breathe.
A book is my tree, provides me oxygen.

I read,
I read like I drink.
A cup of thought lingering to my lips.

I read,
I read like I sleep.
A bed where I see my wildest dreams.

I read,
I read like I eat.

I read,
I read like I'm in love.
A warm and familiar hug welcomes me.

I read,
I read like I believe.
A spark of hope visiting me in every story.

This piece celebrates the revolutionary act of slowing down, of honoring your body's need for stillness in a world that demands constant productivity. The artwork reflects a unique fusion of diaspora Ottoman Turkish and Hawaiian influences, bridging cultures through the universal language of rest.

Each print is hand-signed by the artist and printed on archival museum-grade matte paper for lasting beauty. Crafted and printed with care in Hawai'i, ready to ship with aloha.

Perfect for: Reading nooks, libraries, bedrooms, or anywhere books and rest are cherished.
